Companies group the customers of a business so you can manage their contacts and locations in one place. They are read live from the shop, one shop at a time.

Open companies

  • In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin): open Customers and click the Companies tab.
  • In the Dashboard: open Customers → Companies and pick the shop in the header.

The list shows the company name, Main contact, Locations, Contacts and Customer since. Use the search box to find a company by name.

Add a company

In Multi-Store Sync:

  1. Click Add company.
  2. Enter the Company name and click Add company.

In the Dashboard:

  1. Click Add company.
  2. Enter the Company name. Optionally fill in External ID, Note and Customer since.
  3. To set up the first location now, tick Add a location and fill it in. To add the first contact now, tick Add a contact.
  4. Click Add company.

Add or edit a location

  1. Open the company. The Locations section lists its locations, with phone and payment terms.
  2. Click Add location, or click a location to edit it.
  3. Enter the Location name (required) and Phone.
  4. Fill in the Shipping address. Leave Billing address is the same as shipping address (Multi-Store Sync) or Billing address same as shipping (Dashboard) ticked, or untick it and fill in the billing address.
  5. Choose Payment terms, or No payment terms.
  6. Set the checkout options:
    • In Multi-Store Sync: Submit all orders as drafts for review and Allow customers to ship to any address.
    • In the Dashboard: Send checkouts to draft orders and Buyer can edit shipping address at checkout. The Dashboard also has External ID, Locale, Tax registration ID and Tax exempt.
  7. Add Notes if needed and click Save (Multi-Store Sync) or Save location (Dashboard).

If you see that the location was saved but its address was not, Shopify rejected the address. Check the address fields and save again.

A location that sends orders to drafts shows Orders convert to draft orders.

Add a contact

  1. Open the company and find Customers.
  2. Click Add customer.
  3. Fill in the contact:
    • In Multi-Store Sync: Email (required), First name, Last name, Phone and Title. Click Add customer.
    • In the Dashboard: First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Title and Locale. Enter at least an email or a name. Click Add contact.

Click a contact to open their customer page.

What you cannot do here

  • Delete a company, a location or a contact.
  • Change the company’s name, external ID or note after it is created.

Company changes in the Dashboard are saved to Shopify at once; they do not wait for approval.
