Translate your store content
Translate a Shopify shop's products, collections, pages, blog posts, menus, policies and theme content into each language, for all markets or one.
On this page
The translation screen puts each item’s Original text next to its translation, field by field. You need at least one language besides the default; see Add and publish languages.
Open translations
- In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin): click Settings, then Languages, and click Translate on a language.
- In the Dashboard: open Shop → Translations, or click Translate on a language under Shop → Languages. Pick the shop in the header.
Translate an item
- Choose the Language.
- Choose the Market: All markets, or one market if this item should read differently there.
- Choose the Resource type, for example Products, Collections, Pages, Blog posts, Menus, Policies or your theme’s text (Theme content in Multi-Store Sync, Theme default content in the Dashboard).
- Find the item in the list (use Search, and Load more for long lists). Each item shows whether it is Translated, Partially translated, Outdated or Not translated.
- Click the item and type the translation next to each Original field.
- Click Save. The screen counts your unsaved changes until you save; Discard throws them away.
Outdated means the original text has changed since it was translated, so check the translation again.
If the original changed while you worked
If someone changes the original text after you opened the item, nothing is saved. The new original is loaded; check your translations and save again.
What you cannot do here
- Some items can’t have market-specific translations. For those, choose All markets.
- Items with no translatable text show This item has no translatable content.
- Like languages, translations need a permission the shop owner approves in Shopify admin. See Add and publish languages.
When changes reach the shop
Saved translations are written to Shopify straight away, from both Multi-Store Sync and the Dashboard.
