Create, duplicate or delete a product
Add a new product to a Shopify shop from Multi-Store Sync, copy an existing product on the same shop, or delete one, and see what the Dashboard can do.
You can duplicate and delete a shop’s product from Multi-Store Sync inside Shopify admin and from the StoreFleet Dashboard. Creating a new Shopify product is done in Multi-Store Sync.
Create a product
In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin)
- Open Products in the app’s menu.
- Click Add product.
- Fill in Title and description, Media, Status and the other sections. A title is required. See Edit a product for each field.
- Click Save in Shopify’s save bar.
Multi-Store Sync creates the product on the shop and opens it.
In the Dashboard
The Dashboard’s Products screen does not create Shopify products. To add products from the Dashboard, import them into the Product Library (from a shop or a spreadsheet), then push them to the shops that should sell them.
Duplicate a product
- Open the product:
- In Multi-Store Sync: Products, then click the product.
- In the Dashboard: Inventory & Products → Products, pick the shop in the header, then click the product.
- Click Duplicate.
- In Duplicate product, check the New product title. It starts as Copy of followed by the product’s title.
- Click Duplicate.
The copy is created on the same shop and opens. Multi-Store Sync shows Product duplicated.; the Dashboard shows Product duplicated on the shop.
Delete a product
Deleting a product is Admin only in Approval Settings, and this cannot be relaxed.
In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin)
- Open the product and click Delete product.
- In Delete product?, click Delete product again.
When the workspace has at least one Admin, the delete is sent to Approvals in the StoreFleet Dashboard: you see Sent for approval. An Admin approves it in StoreFleet Dashboard → Approvals., and the product stays on the shop until an Admin approves it there. If nobody in the workspace has the Admin role yet, for example because no one uses the Dashboard, Multi-Store Sync deletes it on Shopify right away as before. A delete can’t be undone.
In the Dashboard
- Open the product and click Delete product.
- Confirm in Delete product?.
A delete made in the Dashboard is sent to Approvals and needs a member with the Admin role to approve it, even when an Admin asked for it. You see Delete request sent for approval. An Admin approves it in Approvals. The product stays on the shop until it’s approved. Follow it with View in Approvals. See Approve or reject a change.
To stop selling a product but keep its history, set its Status to Archived instead of deleting it.
What you cannot do here
- Deleting a product on one shop does not remove it from the Product Library or from other shops.
- A bundle is deleted the same way as any product. See Sell products together as a bundle.
