A segment is a saved Shopify segment query that groups customers by rule, for example number_of_orders > 5. Segments are read live from the shop and work one shop at a time.

Open segments

  • In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin): open Customers and click the Segments tab.
  • In the Dashboard: open Customers → Segments and pick the shop in the header.

The list shows Name, Query and Last edited.

Create a segment

  1. Click Create segment (Multi-Store Sync) or Add segment (Dashboard).
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. Write the Query in Shopify’s segment syntax.
  4. Click Preview. You see how many customers match. If Shopify is still counting, the number is marked as still counting.
  5. Click Save segment.

Save segment stays disabled until you have previewed the query that is in the box. If you change the query, preview it again.

See who is in a segment

  1. Click a segment in the list.
  2. Segment query shows the query and when it was created and last edited.
  3. Customers lists the matching customers. Click Load more to see more. Click a customer to open them.

Edit or delete a segment

  1. Open the segment.
  2. Click Edit segment (Multi-Store Sync) or Edit (Dashboard), change the name or query, Preview, then Save segment.
  3. To delete it, click Delete segment (Multi-Store Sync) or Delete (Dashboard) and confirm.

To delete several at once, tick them in the list and click Delete. If some cannot be deleted, a banner lists them with the reason.

Deleting a segment cannot be undone. Segment changes in the Dashboard are saved to Shopify at once; they do not wait for approval.
