Import and export products with CSV

Create products on a Shopify shop from a CSV file in Multi-Store Sync, export a shop's products to CSV there or in the Dashboard, and find the file.

Multi-Store Sync inside Shopify admin can create products on the shop from a CSV file and export them. The StoreFleet Dashboard can export a shop’s products, and imports spreadsheets into the Product Library instead of a single shop.

Import products in Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin)

  1. Open Products in the app’s menu and click Import.
  2. Click Download CSV template and fill it in. The columns are Title, Body (HTML), Vendor, Type, Tags and Status.
  3. Drop the file on CSV file, or click it to choose the file.
  4. Check the list of products ready to create, then click Create N products.

Rules for the file:

  • Up to 100 products per file, and the file must be 1 MB or smaller.
  • Title is required. Status is active, draft or archived; a blank status creates a draft.
  • Put several tags in Tags, separated by commas.
  • Use only the template’s columns. Prices, images and variants are added afterwards on each product.
  • Every row creates a new product. Existing products are not overwritten.

If a row fails, the import stops. The products created before it stay, and the remaining rows are kept so you can check Shopify and try again.

Import into the Product Library (Dashboard)

In the Dashboard, a spreadsheet import creates masters in the Product Library, not products on one shop. Open Inventory & Products → Products or Product Library, click Import to library, and choose From a spreadsheet. Then push the products to your shops. See Product Library: edit once, push to your shops.

Export products

In Multi-Store Sync (Shopify admin)

  1. Open Products. To export only some products, tick them first.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Under Export, choose Current page, All products or Selected.
  4. Under Export as, choose CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs or Plain CSV file.
  5. Click Export products.

Current page and Selected download straight away, with the same columns as the import template. All products is prepared in the background. When you see that your export is being prepared, click View exports to open the Exports list, then Download the file once its status is Ready.

In the Dashboard

  1. Open Inventory & Products → Products and pick the shop in the header.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Choose the format under Export as and click Export products.

The Dashboard exports all of the shop’s products in the background. Click View exports in the message, then Download the file from Exports when it is Ready.

What you cannot do here

  • The Multi-Store Sync import creates products only; it does not update existing ones or set prices, images or variants.
  • The Dashboard cannot import a CSV straight onto one shop’s products.
